I've been running around like a headless chicken with its tail on fire for a week already trying to look for a good laptop. I would like to buy a gaming laptop, and I have a budget of $1500. Here are some of my preferences. (I've tried some laptop finders on the web, but I felt kinda restricted, and nothing beats human intuition ^^,) top of the list: global warranty (cause I'm just having my aunt in the U.S. buy it for me, I'm staying in Asia right now) at least 17" screen (1920 x 1080) Intel i7-740QM (1.7/2.93GHz) at least 4, but preferably 6GB of DDR3 1333mhz RAM dedicated 1GB DDR5 video memory* one 500GB 7200rpm HDD, preferably with 2 hard drive slots bluetooth and wi-fi capable (of course, lol) at least 1.3mp webcam one-touch shut up button (mute, lols) added features are very much appreciated, like toshiba's sleep and charge. fingerprint reader is very nice, too. battery life around 4 hours and good cooling features. and oh, no major customer blunders/issues. im actually torn between some toshiba qosmios and asus-g73jh's. can anyone shed some light? also, please don't get insulted having to answer this, but which is better for 3D gaming and has better power management, ATI or NVIDIA? some model comparisons will be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot for your patience. =) and oh, a backlit keyboard is a must. but most gaming laptops have that anyway, so, =) if anyone can suggest some nice features such as those included above, please do. hit me with everything you can think of. i love functionality. thanks =)

I have called to get a new one a few months ago but I had to deal with acer direct and they were saying I may have to pay them some money - this put me off. I used headphones the other day and it worked great, and now all of a sudden I can't turn the sound on at all. It says "the audio service is not running" when I try to click on the little volume dealio. How the eff can I fix it? I tried going to control settings and messing with the audio controls there, but it's still the same.

Lately when i've tried to turn it on it goes to the same grey bright screen but in the middle it has a blinking folder with a question mark in the middle of it. 15. Open Question: Windows 7 Start up and Shut Down slow?!?!?!? - Well my Laptop is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit... And recently the Start up and shut down of my computer is taking forever. I did scan for viruses and it came back clean. I do have a feeling that my computer is about to crash on me. Since i game on my laptop a lot, my operating system dies almost every 10 months. So i usually reinstall windows + all my drivers and game all over again until it dies. My computer came out of the factory with Windows Vista but i upgraded all the parts and installed windows 7 on it. It is running smooth so i don't want any answerers telling me to downgrade back. I also know that Windows XP is a good operating system to game with so please don't tell me to downgrade to that because i am up to date with software. Well i would usually just reinstall Windows 7 on this computer but i don't want to do that unless i have to because it currently isn't dead yet. So i want some ideas, tips or hints on making it start up and shut down within 40 seconds. I am ok if it is loading on home screen. I just don't want it to be loading in the Windows logo screen. It used to take 30 seconds for it to turn off and turn on. Now it is taking over 3 minutes! So please can someone give me step to step instructions or tips to make it run faster. As you know, if your answer is good but still isn't clear, i will email you asking for more tips. Also is Java causing this problem. I have up to date anti virus so yeah. Thank You all and please help me. Also this computer has been running for over 10 months without needing to reinstall windows. So it started happening like 1 month ago.. That was when it meet the 10 month mark. My Hard drive can hold up to 250GB and my C drive only has Windows files in it only.. I dont have that much programs running in the background. I dont use those programs that come with the computer. (works, roxio, etc)

18. Open Question: Put in a hard drive, computer won't boot from discs? - I recently acquired a Sony Vaio PCG-7F1L laptop that needed a replacement hard drive. I put a new hard drive in it, and it immediately comes up to a screen that tells me I have new hardware and that I need a Windows installation disc for it to work. The hard drive has windows 7 on it, so I place my windows 7 installation disc in and then repower it on and still get the same message. I've also tried it with a Windows 7 repair disc. So far as I can tell, the CD drive works. Any ideas what could be causing it? Its an older laptop (2005) and no longer under warranty. I can try and provide any additional info if I can. Open Question: dell inspiron 1750 help needed please..? - hi :) i have a dell inspiron 1750. great lappy it even has a 512mb dedicated ati graphics card, its great for movies with the 17" LED screen. HOWEVER, games are very blocky and pixellated, looks like space invaders from the 70's!! i have downloaded and installed the ati ccc tool and tried changing settings but its still very poor. dell say its up to ATI as they made it, ATI say its up to dell as they make the laptops. shocking customer service from both parties, im never buying dell or ati again EVER. hope you learn from this dell/ ati. 30. Open Question: Difference between 5400 and 7200 rpm hard drives? - I'm getting a sony vaio f series laptop tomorrow. Its mainly gonna be used for video editing. Although a desktop would be more suited for this task I also need a computer to take with me to school so I decided on a more powerful laptop. Its got an i7-740 qm processor, 4 gigs of ddr3 - 1333 ram, an nvidia 330m graphics card and a 500 gig 5400 rpm hard drive. My first question is is this laptop sufficient for video editing? I plan on expanding the ram to 8 gigs in a couple months. I'll mainly be using the adobe suite. My main question is is it worth upgrading the hard drive to a 7200 rpm one? I have an external drive at home. Its a 7200 terabyte hard drive with usb, firewire and esata ports. Would it be worth it to upgrade to a7200 rpm hard drive? I mean will i really notice that much of a difference?

Open Question: computer turns off when i turn it on? - it's a 2 year old laptop, an Acer type with windows 7 and just recently i restarted the computer and then when i turned it on, it comes to starting windows and then turns off. now why did it do that? First off, don't give me rambling instructions. I just need to know why it did it and was it possible that it could be some virus or whatever? My computer has McAfee total protection, it says the computer doesn't have a virus. Also, my computer seems to be running ok, just wasn't sure why it turn off.
32. Open Question: Why no 3D ability with the new 'iPad' like devices? - Why haven't they added 3D to the new tablet devices like the iPad and especially the new ones from Samsung. Surly they can because you don't need glasses for a small screen like them. Especially now that they are adding a front viewing camera why not add another on the other side to make it like eyes so it can be 3D as well? they did it with the new DS that is coming out so the technology is there. Is there a marketing reason for them no doing so? do they just want us to buy them now, then create a newer one with extra technology that they make purposely so we buy a newer one ?

Open Question: BOOTMRG is missing Window Vista? - was trying to recover my laptop (Window 7 Vista TOSHIBA) After I insert the second recovery CD the laptop turned off by itself and I turned it on again and BOOTMSG is missing message popped up and I pushed ctrl+alt+delete and the laptop turned off. I tried to put the first recovery CD back but it doesn't help. I use it for my Macbook and my 10.4.11 desktop iMac (I don't know which version it is, but it has a built-in iSight camera). For the first few months both computers connected like they should and I was able to use my Macbook all through the house. Now, my desktop iMac can still connect just fine, but my Macbook barely connects at all. The only time I can get it to connect is if I'm in the same room where the Airport is located, and even then it doesn't connect sometimes. I'm guessing my Macbook is the problem. But I don't know what to do about it. Any advice?
