Go to the start menu and select the shutdown or restart option - if the laptop has frozen keep holding down the power button until it powers down.
If you mean restore you laptop to its original factory settings either power on and hit the F11 key if it has a partition restore, if not you will need the restore cd, again power on and hit the F12 key then select the CD drive and follow the prompts, more here on restoring to factory settings
Remember a factory restore will wipe all your files etc
we can easily install all codecs but there are downsides to simply downloading a codec pak such as losing thumbnail images findout how to simply just install the codec you need xp vista codec
If you have no sound on DVDs or other media find out how to resolve this problem, also find out more about general sound issues at computer-adviser.com
The operating system not found error message which can give all manner of boot problems can normally be fixed pretty easily, read here for more on this.
