I am attempting to save pictures from “My Pictures” by writing them to a CD-R.
I have purchased a stack of Memorex CD-R recordable compact discs (52x-700MB-80 minute).
Prior to attempting to write files to the aforementioned CD-R, I used the drive to download the software that came with the digital camera; therefore, I know the drive works.
I inserted a brand new CD-R into CD Drive E and followed the instructions on how to copy files to disc. Once the files were ready to be written to the CD; I clicked on the “Write these files to CD” under the CD WRITING TASKS located on the left side of the window.
A “CD Writing Wizard” popped up and I entered the CD name in the correct field and clicked “Next.”
A different window popped up with the following message: “There is no disc in the drive.”
“Please insert a writable CD into drive E:\.
I thought maybe since a long space of time had passed since I initially inserted the CD-R that the computer “forgot” I had inserted one. So I clicked on the eject button and then reclosed the CD drive drawer/door. This resulted in no change even after I clicked “Next”
As previously mentioned, I know the drive works, and I know the computer has the capability to write CDs.
Can you please advise???
ok i’ve checked your hardware via the image and it can support your media which means either an issue with the drive itself or the media, as you’ve already tried more than one CD it points towards the drive, even though it can read from disks they can be much more tempramental when it comes to writing, try cleaning the drive with a standard DVD player cleaner.

as there are two types of CD-R disks there is +R and -R you need to make sure the drive is compatible with the media you have purchased, if you right click on computer if using Vista, or my computer if using XP select manage and under device manager look for DVD/CD-ROM drives select this to expand it and you will see the model of the drive, you can either just Google this to see which media it accepts or let me know and i’ll check for you.
