I have downloaded a torrent to a movie. In which format should I burn it on DVD so that it can play on a DVD player (outside the computer) ?

.VOB format is standard for DVD players, you can use other formats with better compression, but which DVD player do you have as different ones support different formats.

its compatible with DivX & MPEG4, checkout magic video converter supports both of these, its not free, but its pretty cheap.
